It is difficult to think of a polythene film application where Severn Valley’s material does not appear in one guise or another. While much of our business is with the industrial end used and forms part of their packaging, other films are sold to printer converters as well as stockists and merchants. Industrial film sales include collation shrink films, where retail products packed in jars, cans and bottles are secured by polythene shrink film to a base tray to provide stability and security in transport and easy identification in cash and carry or supermarket outlets. The “big brother” of collation shrink film is pallet shrink film, where an entire palletized load of product can be packaged for shipment offering the same security and stability.
Polythene film also allows such loads to be stored outside in a waterproof package. Typical applications include glass jars and bottles en route to bottling plants, refractory bricks and other materials for the building industry and other products too numerous to mention.
An important customer sector includes the film converter, whose speciality is the production of printed film and bags for a whole range of retail products including, frozen foods, bread and bakery products, textiles and carrier bags. Special blends of material are required for some of these products, where film capable of high speed conversion into bags or on packaging lines demands films of the highest possible standards. We pride ourselves on being able to provide these very high standards demanded by our customers in this category.
